Potassium

Potassium muds increase the drilling efficiency in water sensitive shales and improve the stability of the formation, especially hard and brittle shales. Potassium (K+) (mg/L) can help make the cuttings together, minimizing dispersion into finer particles. KCl is the most common sources for K+.
